Community Events:

​South Mountain Heritage Society
After a year away, one of our signature fundraisers is back! The Annual Gigantic Used Book Sale will occur each Saturday of October from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The entire museum will be filled with thousands of books of all genres available at very reasonable prices. We accept donations of books during the sale and each week, the exhibit room will be filled with new arrivals. On the last day of the sale, October 28, 2023, books will be sold by the bag! 

Burkittsville Ruritan Club
Country Butchering and Breakfast 
The Burkittsville Ruritan Club will hold its first Country Butchering and Breakfast of the 2023/2024 season during the first week of November.

​Volunteers are needed to help prepare orders on Wednesday, November 1 and Thursday, November 2. Orders much be placed to Randy or Gary Huffer (301-371-7795) by Saturday, October 28, 2023. Butchering orders can be picked up on Friday, November 3 between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm or on Saturday, November 4 between 8:00 am and noon. 
An all-you-can-eat Country Breakfast will be served at the Ruritan Hall at 500 East Main Street, Burkittsville, MD on Saturday, November 4 from  6:00 am until 10:00 am. Menu includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, hominy, pudding, sausage gravy, coffee, orange juice, milk, and iced water. Adults $10.00, Children $5.00.
