What to expect at St. Paul's:
We extend to you a warm welcome to join us for worship and our special events. If you are looking for a church home or are just interested in experiencing one of our services, we encourage you to visit us. Here is a brief introduction to our services and what to expect!
Where should I park?
Our parking lot is located beside the church, accessible from Main Street. The primary entrance to the church opens to the parking lot.
Is the church handicap accessible?
Handicap parking spaces are designated by signs located near the primary entrance to the church. The sanctuary is accessible by a ramp which leads to this entrance. Restrooms can be accessed in the back of the church or in the basement.
What should I wear?
Come as you are! We encourage you to dress in the way that makes you feel most comfortable, whether in casual or formal attire.
What should I expect in your worship services?
Our Sunday service at 11:15 am is traditional, following liturgy guided by the Evangelical Lutheran Worship Hymnal. Your service leaflet, which the usher will hand to you when you enter the sanctuary, provides page numbers (using the acronyms described above) to help guide you through the service. Lutheran worship is made up of both spoken and sung components. We use a blend of traditional and contemporary hymns in our services. Don’t be afraid to ask questions if you are confused about the service or need clarification!
Do you offer Holy Communion and can I receive the sacrament?
We celebrate Holy Communion every Sunday during our 11:15 am worship service. Holy Communion is offered to all baptized Christians, regardless of the tradition/denomination in which you were baptized. During the service of Holy Communion, an usher will direct the congregation to go forward to receive the sacrament at the altar.
What kind of programs or events do members at St. Paul's participate in?
St. Paul's holds a number of outreach programs, social events, and fundraisers each year that you can participate in. These events include our annual Senior Citizens' Dinner (Spring), Father/Son and Mother/Daughter banquets, Summer Music Festival (August), and Country Kitchen and Craft Show (November).

Music at St. Paul's:
St. Paul's Lutheran Church enjoys an active music ministry. Our church choir sings anthems and assists in leading the liturgy each Sunday at our 11:15 am worship service. St. Paul's also periodically hosts concerts and the acoustics of our historic sanctuary are most appropriate for enjoying instrumental and vocal performance.
The choir welcomes new members to join us. Rehearsals are held on the third Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm (additional brief rehearsals after worship are sometimes held as well). St. Paul's is served by two organists, Vicki Gordon and Jody Brumage.

Our Sanctuary Organ:
Worship services at St. Paul's Lutheran Church are accompanied on our historic Moller-Newcomer Pipe Organ. Our first organ was installed in 1914 by the M.P. Moller Company of Hagerstown, Maryland. The pipes were house in the area where the altar is presently located, concealed behind a screen of decorative pipes. Operated by a hand pump, this organ was entirely mechanical and the console (keyboards) was attached to the front of the organ case in the center of the chancel. In 1964, the Newcomer Organ Company rebuilt the instrument, converting it to electro-pneumatic action, adding new stops, and increasing the size of the organ to eight ranks with about 550 pipes. A new console was installed on the west side of the chancel facing the choir loft. The pipes were relocated to a new chamber built above and behind the altar. The Moller-Newcomer Pipe Organ at St. Paul's is a musically-diverse instrument, offering soft and lush orchestral strings, bold foundational stops, and thunderous reeds. |
