Saint Paul's Lutheran Church is a Light in the Valley, seeking to radiate the love of Christ in our community.
We are what God has made us – people whom God has created by grace to live in union with Jesus Christ and has prepared to live faithful, fruitful lives by the power of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 2:8-10). In Jesus Christ, God has reconciled us to God and to each other. As we gather around word and sacraments, this life in Christ is what defines, shapes and guides us as a community of faith, the church.

Music at Saint Paul's:
Music is central to the worship life of Saint Paul's. Our choir provides an anthem at most of our Sunday morning services and helps to lead the singing of hymns and the liturgy. On special occasions, the choir leads our congregation in vespers services or other special worship opportunities.
The choir is always open to new voices! We rehearse once a month, usually on the first Tuesday at 7:00 pm. See Jody Brumage if you are interested in becoming part of the Saint Paul's Choir! |
The Möller/Newcomer Organ:
Prior to 1915, music at Saint Paul's Church was led using reed organs (also known as pump organs).
In late 1914, the congregation of Saint Paul's resolved to purchase a pipe organ. $750 was raised by the church members , inspiring the pastor, the Rev. Harry Erdman, to reach out to industrialist and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie to secure a matching gift. The new organ, built by the M.P. Möller Company of Hagerstown, Maryland, was installed in the church in January 1915 at a cost of $1,500.
The original organ was powered by a gasoline engine and operated with mechanical action connecting the key and pedal boards to the pipes. In 1964, the sanctuary of Saint Paul's Church was remodeled and the pipe organ was also rebuilt by the Newcomer Organ Company of Washington, D.C. This rebuild included the conversion of the organ to electropneumatic action and the addition of new pipes to expand the tonal palette of the instrument. Today, the organ that accompanies our weekly services still includes some of the original Möller pipes that are now over 110 years old. |
The Möller/Newcomer Pipe Organ at Saint Paul's Lutheran Church contains 550 pipes arranged in eight ranks.
